Each year at Christmas, Cherokee County Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) normally has around 200 children in care. (This year, however, they currently have over 300 children in foster care!) These children can range in age from newborn to twenty years old. They may be placed with relatives, in group homes, or in traditional foster homes.
