As the crowds gathered to welcome Jesus with cheers, Jesus was overwhelmed to tears.  Luke’s gospel captures this for us:

41 As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it 42 and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes.  (Luke 19:41)

Jesus was heartbroken.  He wept over Jerusalem because of their inability to recognize what, or rather who, would bring them peace.  Peace was something they desperately desired in their day.  No doubt we, too, are in need of peace.  Recent tragedies both here and in Boulder, Colorado have left  us heartbroken.    As you reflect upon your life, our community, and our city, what causes you to be broken hearted today?  Know this – Jesus weeps with you.  He also comes to offer his peace.  And not just to you but through you to others within your sphere of influence.    How might you help others recognize the peace Jesus offers?
