WORSHIP MINISTRIES DIRECTOR
Job Description – The Way | Woodstock has a passion to see that all who gather in worship are invited to encounter the presence of God and actively engage in worship. The Worship Ministries Director is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of a church’s worship offerings, including music selection, team leadership, servant recruitment, and overall worship planning, working closely with the lead pastor and executive director to ensure the worship experience aligns with the church’s vision and effectively facilitates congregational worship through music, creative elements, and technology.
Job Classification: Paid, Full Time, 40 Hours/Week, Salary Range $40,000 – $42,000
Reporting to: Executive Director
Key Responsibilities:
- Personal Discipleship: Schedules necessary time for personal study, prayer, reflection and service in order to develop and maintain a deep level of personal spiritual growth.
- Corporate Discipleship: Actively discipling others.
- Knows by heart the purpose, mission and vision of The Way and enable members and attendees learn it and more importantly live it out.
- Spiritual Leadership: Cultivate a strong spiritual atmosphere within the worship team(s), emphasizing personal devotion and a commitment to leading others in authentic, Spirit-led worship.
- Worship Service Planning: Collaborate with the lead pastor to develop themes and content for weekly worship offerings, including music selection, scripture readings, and prayer points. Oversee the planning and execution of special worship gatherings such as Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, Easter, Christmas Eve, Funerals, etc. Develop PCO and ProPresenter plans for weekly and special worship offerings.
- Worship Teams Leadership: Recruit, train, and manage a diverse team of worship leaders, musicians, vocalists, tech operators, and other creative arts contributors. Provide ongoing leadership, coaching, and development opportunities for worship team members.
- Musical Direction: Lead worship practices, ensuring musical quality and alignment with the overall worship vision. Select and arrange worship music appropriate for the congregation’s needs and for each expression of worship.
- Servant Engagement: Identify and recruit new worship team members, fostering a culture of participation and service. Develop servant training and mentoring to equip and empower new team members with the necessary skills.
- Creative Arts Integration: Explore and incorporate various creative arts elements into worship services, such as drama, visual arts, and multimedia presentations.
- Networking: Build relationships with local musicians, audio and visual engineers.
- Budgeting: Develop annual ministry plan and budget for Traditional, Modern, Student, and Special Worship Arts teams.

- Along with other Ministry Team is expected to continue spiritual and personal growth each year by participating in continuing education opportunities including but not limited to seminars, leadership institutes, classes, conferences, and travel abroad.
- Attend all planned worship meetings and weekly worship order meetings as needed.
- Is present to supervise the leading of worship weekly or communicate to Executive Director and Pastors of appointed leader from within the respective music ministry teams.
- Be open to change and the shifting of responsibilities as growth and ministry develop
Job Skills and Requirements:
- Godly character and a Christ-Centered life.
- Ability to lead and engage the congregation in worship using contemporary and traditional Christian music.
- Spiritual Gifts of Encouragement, Leadership, and Administration preferred.
- Experience in playing piano/keyboard and/or guitar.
- Strong musical ability, including vocal skills, proficiency on at least one instrument, and knowledge of various musical styles.
- Leadership experience in managing teams and motivating servant volunteers.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with pastors, staff, and worship team members.
- Understanding of church worship traditions and the ability to adapt to different worship styles.
- Technical knowledge of sound systems, lighting, and multimedia equipment.
- Passion for leading worship and a deep commitment to spiritual growth.
- Flexible and organized with a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.
